Memorial Day 2008

This picture is out of order, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Kimmy is reading to Tylie while breakfast was being prepared.
We met at the Midvale Cemetery at the usual 9:00 am hour. It was cold and rainy so we had to hurry and get this picture before it really started to rain.
Can you believe how tall Jason is getting? We were all ready for breakfast--but especially Jason. I think one of those long legs is hollow!
The brethren are sharing "good advise" with Josh and Mark.
Brady was so happy to see Grandpa. He is such a loving little guy!
Some of the "Munchkins" drove to Grandma's house with her in her car.

The breakfast was delicious. Everyone helped. We had orange juice, milk, egg casserole, sausages, pancakes and watermelon It was too cold to eat outside. We were grateful for our big room downstairs and especially happy to have a nice warm fireplace.
Andy and Julie Beck are in charge of the reunion in August so they organized a short meeting to talk about the plans. Some of the kids played four square outside in spite of the showers.
Thanks everyone for coming and making this a special day of remembrance.

Celebrating our May birthdays

We had a great time today out at Jess and Adam's house celebrating our May birthdays! Cannon turns one May 25th, Maddie is 3 on May 31st, and Jared is...well, older...as of yesterday! ;o) Here are some cute pictures of our birthday kids!

Cannon is as sweet as can be. He is truly one of the most good-natured babies I have ever met!

Our little Maddie Moo is such a darling girl! She is so full of happiness and sunshine - she loves to sing and tell stories and her imagination is boundless. Such a joy to be around!

I love this picture of Chris and Em - she says some things never change ;o)!

I am still always so amazed when I see Cannon next to Max - to me, Cannon is an exact replica of his big brother!

This picture is one of my favorites - it's so cute to watch Chris and Maddie together!

The kids all had such a fun time playing outside and eating cupcakes and ice cream!

It's always fun to hang out together! :o) Thanks for the party, Jess and Linds!

Valerie Curtis will graduate from Skyline High on June 4th. She graduated from Seminary on May 18th. She was one of the speakers and did a fabulous job. Congratulations Valerie! She will be going to Utah State in the fall. She'll join Grandpa as an "Aggie"!

What a difference a few years makes. The Princess cousins are all grown up!

Finally Laid to Rest

I wrote in March about Ross Barfuss, the sixteen year old son of Joe's nephew who was lost in the ocean in Oregon. A month ago a body washed ashore and through DNA technology it was determined that it was in fact the body of Ross. It took a month for all the tests that positively identified him. What a marvelous age we live in.
Saturday the family held a private graveside service and laid his body to rest. Of course we know that Ross is not in that grave--only his earthly remains, but it is comforting to know that his body will be there when the resurrection comes. How grateful we are for the knowledge that we have of the plan of life and Salvation--that we will live again with our families forever.
We continue to remember David, Deanna and their family in our prayers, that perhaps this latest development can bring closure to them. We know that they will never get over this horrible experience, but we have faith that they will be able to get on with their lives a little easier now.

Elder Nick Barfuss Update

Hey, Elder, what do you think our next move should be?

We'll find someone to teach somewhere around here!

Larry reports that the family had a great visit with Nick on Mother's day. He sounds great, is very upbeat and is working hard. What a good example for all of us!

Guidlines for the Barometer

The more we get together the happier are we!

We've had some very positive responses to the Barfuss Barometer Blog. It is our goal to make it fun and simple. Those who are listed as "Authors" can contribute a "Post" to the blog. Those who are not yet "Authors" can still contribute by clicking on "comments".

To become an Author you will need to set up a google account (doesn't cost anything) then if your name doesn't appear as an "Author" let Grandma know and she will invite you to become an "Author". She already sent in the e-mail addresses of most of you so you should all be able to contribute (if you want to). If you would rather not be an "Author" let grandma know and she will delete your invitation.

We will not set any deadlines, or rules about how long your post is or how many pictures you can contribute. Write things that will keep the family updated on what is happening in your family's life--include pictures, thoughts and feelings as well as "what happened".

Some of you have personal blogs. If you would like, we will put links on the Barometer Blog to your blog. Let grandma know if that is okay.

We look forward to keeping in touch as we utilize technology in a very positive way.

Welcome to the New Barfuss Barometer!

Hi all you Barfuss'
Our old Barometer just didn't work out well for us so we have cancelled our connection with the web company that set it up for us. We hope that this one will be simpler for all to use. I'm still a Novice at this blogging business, but I think this can work for us and keep us updated on all the going's on in the family. You will receive an invitation to contribute to the blog. You will need to set up a google account. Maybe you'll want just one member of your family to send in contributions. You decide. Hope this will be fun for us to keep in touch.

Just a reminder that Memorial Day is coming soon--May 26th to be exact. We'll meet at the cemetery at 9:00 am as usual and then have breakfast at Grandpa and Grandma's house. We'll let you know what to bring.
We also have several Barfuss Birthdays in May.
Sarah turned 13 on the 14th.
Kimberly will be 6 on the 22nd.
Jared's B'day is on the 23rd.
Cannon Tidwell will be 1 on the 25th.
Natalie Curtis will be 10 on the 28th.
Madison will be 3 on the 31st.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVERYONE!
